Bird Droppings

Droppings from pigeons, bats, starlings, chickens and other birds can carry a fungus (mold) called Histoplasma Capsulatum. This fungus can be found in soil contaminated by droppings and in accumulations of droppings in or on buildings or other structures.

Histoplasmosis is a respiratory disease caused by inhalation of airborne spores from the fungus. Most people who have an infection show no symptoms, however flu-like symptoms are most common when a large number of spores are inhaled. In some cases the disease can move from the lungs to other parts of the body, such as the brain, spine or other internal organs and can even cause death. The bacteria can also enter the body through mucus membranes such as the eyes.

The people most susceptible to the disease are construction workers and/or the general public at or near a worksite around old bird roosts; cave explores; farmers and people with immune deficiencies. Accumulations of bat/bird droppings can often be found in vacant or condemned buildings; older historical buildings not properly maintained; rooftops; attic spaces accessible to birds/bats; barns; church bell towers; warehouses, manufacturing plants, and other open steel type structures which are attractive to birds.

DELTA Services, Inc. has performed numerous bird dropping decontamination projects. We employ the best available methods for cleaning and decontamination to establish a safe environment for other trades and the general public at worksites throughout the State of Indiana. We can also assist property owners/managers in selecting products to deter birds from roosting once a cleanup has been accomplished.

Industrial Cleaning

Nuisance dust/dirt from environmental conditions or manufacturing processes can often accumulate in warehouses and manufacturing/industrial plants. The accumulation of dust and residues can coat open steel structures, equipment, and fixtures where routine cleaning and maintenance is not performed.

DELTA Services, Inc. has the capabilities to perform wet and/or dry cleaning to facilitate plant closures, renovations, or continued operations of your facility.

Graffiti Removal

Graffiti has become a serious problems causing billions of dollars of damage to private & public property on a yearly basis.

DELTA Services, Inc. maintains crews with the training and experience to properly remove paint and graffiti without damaging the masonry, wood, plastic, metal and other surfaces. Projects frequently require us to work on occupied buildings or adjacent to finishes requiring protection from the cleaning process.

Successful graffiti and paint removal requires awareness of the environment as well as the paint surface, to maintain full control of the operation. A graffiti removal program that removes the graffiti as it is put up will discourage taggers to go elsewhere and DELTA Services, Inc. is ready to provide such relief.

Fluorescent Bulbs/Ballasts/Thermostats

Fluorescent bulbs, light ballasts, thermostats, and other associated electrical and electronic equipment can contain small quantities of mercury, PCB’s, or other substances harmful to both human health and the environment. The USEPA adopted the Universal Waste Rule (40CFR Part 273) to control the disposal of these materials in municipal landfills and encourage recycling.

DELTA Services, Inc. can separate and package these materials for alternate disposal or recycling at an EPA approved Facility. Additional information can be found at http://www.epa.gov/osw.

Recycling

As part of our demolition and asbestos abatement projects we make every attempt to separate and recycle any non-contaminated building materials which are suitable for recycling or reuse.
